Britixo VoIP privacy policy

How the Android app uses your information, the choices you have, and how to contact us about your data.

Updated 11 October 2026Britixo Software Solutions UK Limited

Who is responsible

This privacy policy covers Britixo VoIP for Android (package com.britixo.voip) and the account and calling services it uses. The developer is Britixo Software Solutions UK Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 17170769.

Our registered office is Unit 5-6 Titford Lane, Rowley Regis, B65 0PY, United Kingdom. For support or privacy requests, email corporate.uk.eu@britixo.com.

Britixo is responsible for the personal information it uses to manage its service and support relationships. Where your employer or another organisation provides your workspace, it controls the business records and staff access in that workspace; Britixo also processes those records to provide its service to that organisation. Your organisation's own privacy information may therefore apply.

Information used by the app

Account and sign-in information

Your registered email address, name, company or workspace, account identifiers, extension, verification activity and authorised session details are used to sign you in and connect the correct business calling account. Email-verification messages are processed by the email delivery service. A saved session includes the calling credentials needed to register your extension.

Business contacts

The app receives the team and client directory that your signed-in company account is authorised to access. This can include names, business email addresses, phone numbers and extensions. The app does not request access to your phone's personal address book.

Calls and call history

Microphone audio is processed and transmitted during calls so participants can speak to each other. Caller and destination details, timestamps, duration, direction, connection outcome and missed-call records support routing, recent calls, service operation and troubleshooting. These details are processed by the calling platform and relevant participants or communications providers. This Android version has no call-recording control; this does not prevent another participant or an organisation's separate telephone system from recording a call under its own arrangements.

Technical and support information

Connections expose information such as your IP address, connection times, app and protocol version, and registration or call errors to the service. The app keeps a short diagnostic journal locally, including device model, Android version, permission and audio settings, and recent call-state events. The in-app diagnostic report is not automatically sent to Britixo: you choose whether to copy and share it for support. Messages and reports you send to support are processed to handle your request.

Why it is used

We use this information to authenticate users, deliver calls, show the correct company directory and call history, maintain background call availability, provide support, protect against misuse and meet applicable legal obligations.

Depending on the activity and our relationship with you, the legal basis is performance of a contract or requested pre-contract steps, legitimate interests in operating and securing business communications, compliance with a legal obligation, or consent where required. Optional support information is provided by your choice. You can contact us about the basis that applies to a particular record or exercise the rights below.

The Android app contains no advertising SDK and does not use advertising identifiers or automatic advertising analytics. Britixo does not sell personal information.

Permissions and your choices

  • Microphone: needed to send your voice during calls. Without it, two-way voice calling cannot work.
  • Notifications and full-screen call alerts: used to announce incoming and missed calls and, where Android permits, display an incoming call over the lock screen. Denying them can hide or limit alerts.
  • Bluetooth: optional access for compatible headsets and call audio routing. You can use the phone's audio without a Bluetooth headset.
  • Background calling and wake controls: keep your signed-in extension available and wake the device for an incoming call. Manufacturer-specific lock-screen or background-window settings may also need your approval.

You control permissions in Android Settings and the app's call-permission setup. A permission cannot be granted by Britixo on your behalf. The app does not request your precise location, camera, SMS messages or personal contacts. Incoming-call details can be visible to someone who can see your screen, depending on your notification settings.

Who receives information

Information is available to authorised Britixo personnel and providers supporting hosting, communications, email delivery, security and support, where needed for their role. Call participants and their telephone services receive the information needed to connect a call. Authorised administrators of your company workspace may have access to its business directory and call records according to their permissions.

We may disclose relevant information when required by law or needed to establish or defend legal rights. The app uses the Linphone calling SDK to handle calls. Google Play and Android provide their own distribution and device services under Google's applicable privacy terms. Opening account-registration or other website links takes you to a browser, where the relevant website policy applies.

Security and international processing

The app uses HTTPS for its account services and is configured to use TLS for SIP signalling and SRTP for call media to Britixo's calling platform. Saved account-session information is encrypted using Android Keystore-backed keys. These controls do not amount to a promise of end-to-end encryption across every telephone network or a guarantee against all security risks.

Britixo's core platforms and databases are hosted in the UK. Communications, email and other providers, or call participants, may process information in other countries. Where applicable data-protection law restricts a transfer, the required safeguards must apply. Contact us for details relevant to your service.

Retention and deletion

Account, directory and server-side call records are kept to provide the active service and handle relevant support, security and legal needs. They are included in the review and deletion of information associated with an account when deletion is requested. The phone keeps up to 50 recent calls recorded by this app; older entries are replaced as new calls are added. Signing out removes the saved account session and its device recent-call list. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it removes its local data, but does not delete the server account.

Request deletion of your Britixo VoIP account and associated personal data. You do not need to install or sign in to the app to request deletion. We verify ownership, remove the account and associated personal data that we control, and coordinate any necessary deletion by service providers.

Some records may need to be retained for a specific legal, accounting, fraud-prevention or security reason. Such records are limited to the necessary purpose and kept for the applicable statutory period or, for a security incident or dispute, until the relevant matter and any required claims period have ended. The response to your request will identify any retained categories, the reason and the applicable period or deletion criterion. Records controlled by your organisation or another call participant are handled under their own responsibilities; we will explain this and help route the relevant part of a request.

We respond without undue delay and normally within one month. If a lawful extension or identity check is needed, we explain the reason and timing. The account-deletion page explains the steps and the effects on your account.

Your rights and contact

Depending on your circumstances, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or object to relevant processing. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it. We may need proportionate proof of identity to protect account information.

Email corporate.uk.eu@britixo.com with your request. Do not send passwords, verification codes or unnecessary sensitive information. You can also write to the registered office above. You have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office or the relevant data-protection authority where you live.
