Read linked email previews safely
Inspect the current native email text from an opportunity while retaining the mailbox’s existing access rules.
Where to goSales CRM → Deals → Open opportunity → Open timeline → Read email
Before you start
Use your own authorised staff account in the intended Britixo workspace. The Sales CRM module must be available and your role must include the permissions stated above. Existing leads, customers, communications and customer portal pages retain their normal access rules.
Follow these steps
- Open the relationship timeline and choose Linked emails if you want to focus on messages.
- Select the email subject or Read email.
- Review the mailbox, sender, visible recipients, message time and linked person.
- Read the plain-text preview.
- Select Open mailbox to use the normal mailbox for replies, attachments or the complete message.
Behavior and limits
- The preview reads the current native message. It does not keep a separate copy in the opportunity.
- The preview displays plain text and escaped content. Remote images and active HTML are not loaded.
- The text preview is limited to 50,000 characters. Where no text body exists, the system converts a bounded portion of the stored HTML to text; shortened previews are labelled.
- To and Cc are displayed when available. Bcc recipients are not displayed in the preview.
- Reading this preview does not mark the message as read in the mailbox or on the mail server. Opening and using the native mailbox follows that mailbox’s normal behaviour.
- Open mailbox opens the account’s normal inbox. Locate the message there by its subject and timestamp to reply or inspect attachments.
- The interface reports the source’s Sent or Received direction. It does not infer delivery, opening, clicking or reply status.
- The source must remain available and accessible. Removed mailbox membership, revoked read permission, trashed/deleted messages or changed relationship context can make the preview unavailable.
Check it worked
- Check that the subject, timestamp and participant match the intended communication.
- For a shortened or HTML-heavy email, inspect the complete message through the normal mailbox.
Troubleshooting
- An unavailable preview may reflect a permission or source-record change; refresh and verify through the normal mailbox and customer/lead workflows.
- If the preview contains little readable text, the original may rely on images or attachments. Use Open mailbox.
- If the source is a sent outbox record, it must still have a successful Sent status.
