✅ Chart of Accounts | Accounting & Bookkeeping Software UK.

The Chart of Accounts is the backbone of your financial setup in Britixo. It organises all your accounts into categories such as assets, liabilities, income, and expenses. Each account can be customised with detail types, balances, and descriptions to fit your organisation’s needs.

📂 Access Chart of Accounts

  1. From the left sidebar, open the Accounting module.

  2. Click Chart of Accounts.

➕ Create a New Account

  1. ➕ Click the Add button.

  2. In the Account popup, fill in the details:

    • Account Type – select from the dropdown (e.g., Assets, Liabilities, Income, Expenses).

    • Detail Type – choose a detail type. (You can add more in Account Detail Type settings.)

    • Account Name – enter a descriptive name for the account.

    • Parent Account (optional) – link this account under another for a hierarchy.

    • Opening Balance & Date (optional) – add starting balance and date for accounts like:

      • Current Assets

      • Cash & Cash Equivalents

      • Fixed Assets

      • Credit Card

      • Current & Non-current Liabilities

      • Owner’s Equity

    • Description (optional) – explain the purpose of the account.

👉 Note: To use account numbers in reports and transactions, enable Account Numbers and Show Account Numbers in Accounting Settings.

  1. 💾 Click Save.

🗑️ Delete an Account

  • Only non-default accounts with no linked transactions can be deleted.

  • Default accounts or accounts with active records cannot be removed.

📥 Import Accounts

  1. 📥 Click the Import Account button.

  2. Download the template file to ensure correct format.

  3. Enter your account data into the template and save it.

  4. Click Choose File, upload the file, and press Import.

  5. If the import fails, a Download Error File option will appear.

    • Open the file and check the Error column to see what caused the issue.

Tip: Always review your Chart of Accounts structure before importing large volumes of data. A well-organised chart makes reporting and reconciliation much easier.
