Create Expense Category Mapping | Accounting & Bookkeeping Software UK.
Expense Category Mapping in Britixo ensures that expenses linked to specific categories are automatically mapped to the right accounts. You can also configure preferred payment methods for even more accurate tracking.
Access Expense Category Mapping
From the left sidebar, go to Accounting → Settings → Mapping Setup → General.
Enable Expense Category Mapping.
Click the Add button.
Configure Expense Category Mapping
In the Expense Category Mapping Setup popup, fill in the following details:
Select the Expense Category – choose the category you want to map.
Payment Account & Deposit To – assign the account for expenses under this category.
Preferred Payment Method – toggle this option depending on how you want to map expenses:
Disabled: Expenses map directly to the expense category.
Enabled: Mapping is prioritised by the payment mode selected.
Multiple payment methods can be assigned for a single category.
Save the Mapping
Once all fields are set, click Save.
Expenses created with the chosen category will now follow this mapping automatically.
Tip: Use preferred payment methods for categories like utilities or rent, where payments are often made through a specific method (e.g., bank transfer). This ensures consistency and accurate reporting.
