Before you start

Record a receipt only after verifying the real incoming payment and checking that it has not already been synchronised or reconciled.

Follow these steps

  1. Select the correct property and verify its currently linked tenant.
  2. Enter a positive amount and the Paid date.
  3. Choose Record & allocate once.
  4. Inspect the new receipt and allocated amounts on the rent entries.
  5. Check remaining outstanding rent and arrears ageing.

Check it worked

The receipt is allocated to the current tenant’s oldest eligible outstanding rent charges first; partially settled charges show partial status.

If something does not look right

Historical charges for a previous tenant are intentionally excluded. An excess receipt can remain unallocated; do not assume it has automatically settled a future charge that did not exist at receipt time.

Questions and answers

Can I select which charge gets the receipt?

The standard receipt action allocates oldest first. It is not a manual charge-allocation editor.

Does the receipt transfer money?

No. It records an operational receipt and allocations.

Can I safely click twice?

Do not. Manual receipts do not have the same source-row identity protection used for reconciliation transactions. Reopen the ledger before retrying an uncertain submission.
