Configure general Accounting settings
Set the financial-year, accounting basis, book-closing and automatic-conversion defaults used throughout the module.
What this feature does
Set the financial-year, accounting basis, book-closing and automatic-conversion defaults used throughout the module. It forms part of Britixo Enterprise CRM's Accounting & Bookkeeping module and uses the module's permission-aware controller, status and mapping flow rather than a generic spreadsheet process.
How the module flow works
The module stores general Accounting options and uses them across conversion, budgets, registers and reports. Some switches have dedicated update actions, including automatic-conversion settings.
Because existing transactions may have been posted under earlier settings, a settings change does not automatically mean historical entries should be rebuilt. Review the effect with an accountant.
If a selected account is later deactivated, conversion or reports can behave unexpectedly; keep the structural account list maintained.
Step-by-step workflow
- Open Accounting → Settings and select General.
- Review each existing value before editing it.
- Set the financial-year start and accounting method.
- Configure close-books controls and account-number display.
- Review every default account; create missing accounts before selecting them.
- Leave automatic conversion disabled until mappings are tested.
- Save, refresh the page and verify the values persisted.
Important fields and decisions
What happens after completion
After the action is saved, Britixo keeps the Accounting record connected to its source and updates the visible status or ledger data supported by this workflow. Review the saved result rather than relying only on a success message. Where the action posts accounting data, total debits and credits must balance and the accounts must match the approved mapping or manual selection.
- Open the saved record and confirm its final status.
- Review the source reference and every debit and credit line where ledger data was created.
- Use the relevant register, ageing, reconciliation or report to verify the wider effect.
Controls, checks and common mistakes
- Changing basis or financial-year settings can alter report interpretation.
- Do not move the close-books date backwards without approval.
- Avoid generic suspense accounts as permanent defaults.
- Test automatic conversion in a non-critical period.
- Use the least destructive correction available and record the reason for material changes.
- Do not bypass a permission, approval or closed-period control by changing unrelated data.
