How to record preparers and authorised signers
Use this guide in your Britixo workspace. Follow the Agents & Preparers workflow in Britixo to record preparers and authorised signers.
Before you start
Required access: Manage preparers and agent relationships. The module must be enabled and its installed version ready for your workspace. Select the intended taxpayer, authority and period before changing a record.
How to record preparers and authorised signers
- Under Agent / preparer relationship select Taxpayer and enter Agent / preparer, Relationship, PTIN, EFIN and Authorization form as applicable.
- Choose Add relationship and inspect Agent relationships.
- Under Authorized signer select Taxpayer and enter Name, Capacity, Authority basis and Email; choose Create signer.
- Check Authorized signers before selecting one on a return.
- Upload any required signed version-specific authorisation through Documents and select it in the return workspace.
Controls and limits
- A saved preparer relationship or signer does not itself grant authority credentials, a power of attorney or permission to file.
- The signer, signed document and declaration must match the taxpayer and exact return version.
Check the result
Reopen the affected record and confirm the taxpayer, period, saved values and status. For external actions, inspect the actual authority acknowledgement or settlement evidence; a local saved or queued state is not acceptance.
If you cannot continue
Read the displayed validation or readiness message. Check the module version, role, source scope, authority, period and current approval evidence. If another person changed the record, refresh and review the current version. Give support the screen, error wording and correlation reference; keep passwords, one-time codes and tax identifiers out of public messages.
