Shared server guidance · Question & answer

Are Windows, control-panel and database licences included with my server?

Licence inclusion depends on the quoted package and the specific software. An available installation image does not establish that every required use or access right is included. Check the edition, charging basis and permitted deployment with Britixo and the software vendor where needed.

Before you start

  • The selected server package and a list of operating-system, panel, database and application licences.

Instructions

1. Itemise each entitlement

Record the product, version, edition, resource count and expected users or devices. Ask which licence is supplied, which is billed separately and which you must provide. Include any additional remote-desktop, database, security-agent or management licences relevant to the workload.

2. Check ongoing and migration rights

Confirm how renewals are handled, what changes when the server is resized and whether a licence can move to replacement hardware or another provider. Vendor programmes differ, so a retail or on-premises entitlement should not be assumed suitable for hosted use.

3. Reconcile the commercial record

Review the quotation and invoice items in My Account → Billing & invoices. If a product or entitlement is unclear, ask support to confirm it before installation or increased usage. Keep sensitive activation material in the authorised credential store, separate from public documentation and ordinary ticket text.

Check the result

  • Every installed commercial component has a confirmed entitlement and renewal owner.
  • Licence costs and resource assumptions match the selected server configuration.

Troubleshooting

Software is installed but shows an activation warning
Check the supplied edition, entitlement and permitted activation process. Report the non-sensitive warning and service reference; do not publish the licence key.
