How do I request server IP addresses and confirm reverse DNS support?
Use only IP addresses allocated to your service. Additional IPv4 or IPv6 allocation, charges and reverse DNS controls depend on the confirmed offering. Reverse DNS changes the lookup from an IP address to a hostname; it does not replace ordinary domain DNS records.
Before you start
- The server reference, intended use and the hostname you control if requesting reverse DNS.
Instructions
1. Review existing allocation
For a Britixo VPS, open Control Panel → Networking and inspect the addresses returned for the selected server. Check address family, routing arrangement and any service-specific instructions. A public connection address may differ from an operating-system interface address when a provider uses NAT.
2. Explain additional requirements
Ask Britixo about the number and type of addresses needed, the application reason and whether the design could use the existing allocation. Confirm price, routing, attachment procedure and any restrictions before configuring an address. Do not add an unallocated address to the operating system.
3. Confirm the reverse-DNS workflow
Where available, the VPS Networking page offers Edit reverse DNS and Save reverse DNS for the selected IP. Prepare the correct hostname and matching forward DNS where required by your application or mail system. After an approved change, check its result and allow for provider processing and DNS caches.
Check the result
- The allocated addresses and any charges are confirmed for the correct service.
- Reverse and forward lookups match the intended design after a permitted update.
Troubleshooting
- There is no reverse-DNS edit control
- The operation may not be supported for that service or account. Ask support with the assigned IP reference rather than trying to change another provider’s reverse zone.
