How to start an official HMRC payment journey
Use this guide in your Britixo workspace. Follow the Payments & Liabilities workflow in Britixo to start an official hmrc payment journey.
Before you start
Required access: Initiate official HMRC payment journeys. The module must be enabled and its installed version ready for your workspace. Select the intended taxpayer, authority and period before changing a record.
How to start an official HMRC payment journey
- In Pay HMRC securely select Taxpayer and VAT or Self Assessment.
- Enter Amount (£), verify the taxpayer and regime, and choose Continue to secure HMRC payment.
- Complete the payment on the official HMRC-hosted journey.
- Return to HMRC payments & journeys and choose Refresh from HMRC. Compare the result with Tax liabilities.
- For Self Assessment account position choose History from and HMRC authority, then use the available account retrieval controls to inspect charges, payment history and refunds.
Controls and limits
- Creating a journey does not prove settlement. Card and bank credentials belong on the official payment site.
- Some Self Assessment account APIs are environment-restricted; honour the displayed sandbox/production gate.
Check the result
Reopen the affected record and confirm the taxpayer, period, saved values and status. For external actions, inspect the actual authority acknowledgement or settlement evidence; a local saved or queued state is not acceptance.
If you cannot continue
Read the displayed validation or readiness message. Check the module version, role, source scope, authority, period and current approval evidence. If another person changed the record, refresh and review the current version. Give support the screen, error wording and correlation reference; keep passwords, one-time codes and tax identifiers out of public messages.
